, a series of archival, fine art digital
prints derived from the infamous blotter art collection of Mark
McCloud.
The collection,
also
known as the Institute of Illegal Images is the most comprehensive
collection of printed or embossed LSD blotter paper in the world. The
images that make up the Blotter
Barn collection were produced and designed by digital
artist Dana Smith in close collaboration with Mark McCloud. Blotter
Barn is part of a series of artist collaborations that Dana Smith
is producing under the name of Dana
Dana Dana.
These large
scale prints are made of 100% rag, acid free, fine art
paper, and digitally printed with archival inks. Each image is
a photographic enlargement of a selected item from the collection,
and depicts
that
item in every
detail, revealing tiny elements that are normally invisible to the
human
eye.
All images are issued as a Blotter
Barn exclusive limited
edition, and are offered in two sizes in order to accomodate different
types of collectors. The "Public Edition" is a series of very large
scale prints, issued in an edition of 50 prints per image, signed and
numbered by artist, Mark McCloud, and
further authenticated by the presence of the 'Blotter
Barn' and 'Dana
Dana Dana' embossed impressions on either lower corner. The "Personal
Edition" is a smaller, more affordable series of prints, issued in an
edition of 250 prints per image, and still signed by Mark, and stamped
just like the larger prints.
We at Blotter Barn find that
these prints can function as a good conversation starter, opening the
door to discussions ranging from political views to personal reminiscence.
Here's hoping that our "advanced" culture can return to a sane
and reasonable dialog
about LSD, and soon leave behind the fearful and life shattering, draconian
laws
that
are
currently imposing a vicious stranglehold on our personal rights.
